Sitting on the Dock of the Bay

Come summertime, I’ll be taking a lot of photos in Brigantine, New Jersey.  I got a head start over the weekend with a quick, frozen weekend at the new family house.  The neighbors across the street are doing work on their dock, and I headed over to see what was going on and I took some photos:

It’s going to be a pretty cool summer with much beachiness (and I huge helping of U2, which I’ll discuss at a later date), and I can’t wait to put my camera to good use.

The sky ripped open…

Across the field, you see the sky ripped open,

See the rain pouring through the gaping wound,

Pounding the women and children

Who run

Into the arms

Of America.

Onward, For Glory

This photo was taken months ago, at the end of the summer when it was still hot out and fall had yet to arrive to the party.  For a few months now I’ve been toying with, never really happy with the processing or the look of it.  The composition is such that I just kept going back to it because I was convinced there was something good there.  After some cropping and color manipulation I finally found the mix that I like…for now.  I have three or four alternate versions laying around my hard drive, each one different in tone and the feeling I wanted the photo to convey.  That’s one of the joys of digital photography, the endless manipulative possibilities, though I imagine there are many who differ in that opinion, and you know what, that’s ok.

Toward the Heavens

Walking down the street a while back, I came upon these two buildings and was immediately struck by the immense reflection as I looked up toward the sky.

Abandoned Building in Philadelphia

I doubt this building was that beautiful in its prime.
